MX records determine where email for your domain is delivered. This tool shows the mail servers by priority and automatically detects whether you are on Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or another provider.
What this tool does
The tool fetches the MX records, sorts them by priority and compares the hostnames with known patterns of large providers to detect the email provider.
How to use it
Enter the domain name and run the check. Handy to verify a domain points to Google Workspace correctly before or after a migration.
Input and output
- Input: a domain name
- Output: the mail servers with their priority and the detected email provider
Limitations
Provider detection is based on known hostname patterns; an unknown or resold hosting is shown without a provider name.
Good to know
For Google Workspace there should now be a single smtp.google.com record; older setups with five aspmx records still work but may be simplified. After a migration, check that no old mail server from a previous provider is left behind.
